The CWLWM partnership is committed to good practice in transnational working. CWLWM seeks to understand, appreciate and embrace the cultures and traditions of the societies our transnational partners come from and to ensure that they are aware of, understand and appreciate the cultures and traditions of our society.

Our transnational work gives us the opportunity to visit and study systems and opportunities in the partner states, resulting in raised awareness and knowledge of the European context of CWLWM's work.

Primavera team photoAs well as transnational activities adding value to domestic activities, transnational activities will have value added by their role in complementing CWLWM's workplan, thus producing cost-effective outcomes for both lines of activity.

The first Action 2 transnational meeting took place as planned in Naples, with representatives from each of the partner countries.

It was confirmed that all partners have some significant common ground with CWLWM in working with childcare providers and there are particular synergies, for instance within different funding models and bi-lingual provision, that will be exploited. This transnational work is expected to contribute significantly to CWLWM objectives and discussions in Naples confirmed that this will be possible, indeed probable.

The transnational co-operation will include:

  • exchange of experience of childcare sector development - resulting in a best practice handbook
  • information on different systems of childcare financing - resulting in a report
  • exchanging experience and support methodologies for third sector business start-ups and childcare business start-ups-resulting in a collection of case studies
  • experience and practice of minority language childcare provision - resulting in a comparative report
  • shared events for dissemination and mainstreaming
