The CWLWM Partnership will support the people of Wales to develop a dynamic, responsive and sustainable childcare sector.

CWLWM is a partnership between the Welsh Assembly Government, Cardiff County Council CYPPF (Children and Young People's Partnership Framework), Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids' Clubs, Communities that Care, Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin, NCMA (National Childminding Association), NDNA (National Day Nurseries Association), Play Wales, Wales Pre-school Playgroups Association and the University of Gloucestershire. CWLWM, (Childcare Wales Learning & Working Mutually), a Welsh word meaning a knot - tying together, will be:

  • Supporting childcare providers to become better businesses;
  • Supporting Welsh-language childcare provision;
  • Supporting the development of dynamic and innovative training in childcare and playwork;
  • Supporting local communities to have their say in what they want from childcare.

Our objectives are to develop a childcare business toolkit, support innovative training in playwork, increase Welsh language provision, expand community led support and enterprise, research and recommend alternative funding sources, embed sustainable growth and create increased gender balance in the childcare sector, work closely with the Genesis Wales and AWARE projects.
